NASF Scholarship Award Program in USA, 2014/2015

NASF Scholarship is awarded to both national and international applicants for 2014/2015 academic year. The scholarship award is available to both undergraduates and graduates for studying chemical engineering, material science or engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, environmental engineering, or chemistry. Scholarships are worth $1,500.00 USD. Candidates must demonstrate academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities. The deadline for application is December 9, 2014.

Study Subject(s):
Scholarship is available for studying chemical engineering, material science or engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, environmental engineering, or chemistry.

Course Level:
Scholarship is available to both undergraduate and graduate degree program at an accredited college.

Eligibility:
-Undergraduate applicants must be junior standing or above when applying and must be of senior standing for the 2014-2015 academic year.
- Undergraduate and graduate students must be studying in chemical engineering, material science or engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, environmental engineering, or chemistry.
- The applicant must be attending an accredited college.
-There are no geographic limitations. Both national and international applicants are urged to apply.
- Minimum GPA requirement for undergraduate applicant should be 3.0 or above and  for graduate applicant, should be 3.3 or above.

Scholarship Open for International Students:
Scholarship is open for both national and international applicants.

Duration of award(s):
Awards will be given for the 2014-2015 academic year.

What does it cover?
Scholarship to college juniors, seniors and graduate students are offered in the amount of $1,500.

Selection Criteria:
Applicants are judged on the four major factors:
-Academic record
-Personal statement
-Working experience
-Extracurricular activities

Notification:
The AESF Foundation will notify the award winners by December 19, 2014.

How to Apply:
Application packages (including a completed application form and all following requested materials) should be mailed.
-A statement describing the applicant’s career objective and an intended plan of study and/or research in plating and surface finishing science and engineering (Limit: 2 typed pages).
-A resume detailing the applicant’s academic achievements (Limit: 2 typed pages).
-Two recommendation letters from professors and, if working in a company, employers. Note that one letter must be from an academic advisor.
-An official copy of the most recent undergraduate or graduate transcript (to be sealed by the academic institution where the applicant attends)

Fully-Funded PhD Studentship at Swansea University’s College of Engineering in UK, 2015

Swansea University’s College of Engineering is inviting applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship for a research project on “Advancing the Techniques of Non-Standard Computed Tomography for Complex Material Analysis”. Applicants should have a 1st class BEng OR a 2:1 (min) MEng OR an MSc in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related subject. The studentship covers the full cost of UK//EU tuition fees, plus a generous tax-free stipend of £20,000 p.a. for three years (subject to satisfactory progress). An additional £1,200 will also be available for research expenses, travel and conference attendance etc. The application deadline is 31st October 2014.

-This studentship is open to UK, EU and international applicants, however only UK/EU tuition fees will be paid. International students will be required to pay the difference between UK/EU and overseas tuition fees.

Scholarship Description:
Swansea UniversitySwansea University’s College of Engineering, in association with TWI and the Ser Cymru National Research Network, invites applications for a fully-funded PhD studentship. Computed Tomography (CT) is a well described technique of volumetric inspection, for objects in both the medical and industrial sectors. It provides the user with high-resolution cross-sectional density data on the internal volume of the object and has become a work-horse in the field of industrial Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and defect characterisation.

Schlumberger Foundation is offering women fellowships to pursue PhD or postdoctoral studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines at leading universities abroad. Fellowships are awarded to female citizens of a developing country or emerging economy. Grants can be up to USD 50,000 per year for PhD courses and a maximum of USD 40,000 for Post-Doc programs. The application deadline for the year 2015–2016 Faculty for the Future Fellowships is November 14th, 2014.

Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this fellowship applicants must meet the following criteria:
You:
-are a female and are a citizen of a developing country or emerging economy. You are not eligible to apply if you hold dual citizenship of which one is citizenship of a developed country;
-are preparing for a PhD, or postdoctoral study in the physical sciences, engineering and related disciplines;
-are enrolled, admitted or have applied to a host university/research institute abroad (applications are no longer accepted where an individual has not yet applied to a university). If you are applying for a sandwich course the final degree must be awarded by the University abroad (not from the home country university);
-hold an excellent academic record;
-can demonstrate active participation in faculty life and outreach programs to encourage young women into the sciences;
-are willing to contribute to the socio-economic development of your home country and region by strengthening the faculties in your home universities, pursuing relevant research, or using your specific expertise to address public policy matters.

Scholarship Description: 
The Schlumberger Foundation
The long-term goal of the program is to generate conditions that result in more women pursuing academic careers in STEM disciplines thus contributing to the socio-economic development of their home countries and regions. The program is growing each year and has become a community of 405 women scientists and technologists from 68 countries. Grant recipients are selected as much for their leadership capabilities as for their scientific talents. Ultimately they are expected to return to their home countries to continue their academic careers, to further their research, to teach and to become inspirational role models for other young women, especially in the STEM fields.

Duration of Award(s): Grants are awarded on a one-year basis, and may be renewed through to completion of PhD or post-doc study subject to performance, outreach and collaboration initiatives, and recommendations from supervisors (preferably host and home universities respectively).
What does it cover? Faculty for the Future grants are based on actual costs for eligible expenses up to a maximum of USD 50,000 per year and may be renewed through to completion of studies subject to performance, self-evaluation, recommendation from supervisors and strong evidence of re-integration plans into the home country.
Selection Criteria:  Applicants are chosen via a rigorous selection process based on academic performance, outstanding references, research relevance, and commitment to teaching as well as the ability to be a change agent and inspire other young women into science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) pursuits.
