Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme in the Humanities, 2015-2016

University of Oxford is welcoming application for Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme funds. Scholarships are available for pursuing full-time graduate degrees in various subjects in the Humanities at University of Oxford, UK. Scholarships are open for international students. Scholarships cover 100% of University and college fees and a award for living costs for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course. The application deadline is 9 or 23 January 2015.

Eligibility:
-You should be applying to start a new full-time graduate course at Oxford.
-You must be applying to a course within the following faculties:
Classics (including classical archaeology); English Language and Literature; Fine Art (excluding studio art); History (including history of art and the history of architecture); Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics; Medieval and Modern Languages (covering most European languages and their literature); Music; Oriental Studies (including Far Eastern and Middle Eastern Studies, and the study of a wide range of languages); Philosophy; and Theology.
-Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the additional criteria outlined on the Ertegun supporting statement form (see related documents on this page).
-Please ensure that you meet the selection criteria for your course (see the Courses page for more information).
-This scholarship is not open to candidates applying for postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma courses, part-time courses or non-matriculated courses. This scholarship is also not open to applications from candidates who hold deferred offers to start in 2015-16.

Scholarship Description:
The Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme funds full-time graduate degrees in various subjects in the Humanities. Established in 2012, the programme is supported by the generosity of Mica Ertegun. The scholarship will cover 100% of University and college fees and a allowance for living costs (of at least £13,863). Awards are ready for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course. Ertegun Scholars also benefit from exclusive use of Ertegun House; a fully modernized, non-residential building, built in 1808, located at the heart of Oxford’s academic community.

What does it cover?

How to Apply:

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must select ‘Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities’ in the Funding section of the University’s graduate application form and submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline for your course (9 January 2015 for Philosophy; 23 January 2015 for all other subjects). You must also complete an Ertegun supporting statement (see Related documents on this page) and upload it, together with your graduate application form, by the deadline, in order for your application to be complete. If you do not apply in full by the deadline, you will not be considered for this scholarship, even if you have selected the Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities on the graduate application form.

Applications are invited for Dr. S. Radharkrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences (Including languages) for the year 2014-2015. Award is open for young Indian researchers below 35 years of age to carry out their studies and research in Humanities and Social Sciences including languages in Indian Universities and Colleges recognized. The tenure of the award is three year with no provision for further extension. The application deadline is 21/09/2014.

Course Level: Fellowships are open for full time Postdoctoral research work to young researchers below 35 years of age (Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates).

Eligibility:
-The candidate must have a doctorate degree in the relevant subject.
-General/open category, 55% marks at UG level and 60% of marks at PG level. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/ PH) candidates, 50% at UG level and 55% at PG level.
-The fellowship is open for full time research work to young researchers below 35 years of age (Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates).
-Note:-Candidate must identify a Guide for his/her postdoctoral research work and obtain his /her consent for the guidance.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens of India can apply for these fellowships.
Scholarship Description: The objective of this award is to provide an opportunity to carry out the advanced studies and research in Humanities and Social Sciences including languages in Indian Universities and Colleges recognized under section 2(f) and fit to receive assistance under section 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956 and Institutes of National Importance established by the Central/State Government.

What does it cover?
-Fellowships valued @Rs.25,000 – 27,000 p.m. with annual increase of Rs.1000 p.a.
-Contingency A @Rs.50,000 p.a. for three years
-Escorts/Reader assistance @Rs.2000/- p.m. (fixed) in case of physically disabled candidates
- HRA : Post-Doctoral Fellowship provided with accommodation in hostel recognized/ maintained by the institutions may be reimbursed the hostel fee, excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc. A certificate to this effect is to be furnished through the Registrar/Director/Principal (Annexure-II). If Post-Doctoral Fellow makes his/her own arrangements of accommodation, he/she may be entitled to draw HRA as per categorization of the cities by the Government of India. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will submit a certificate for this purpose to the UGC for claiming HRA through the concerned University/ Institution/ College

Selection Criteria: The applications received will be scrutinized by the screening committee. Later, the short listed candidates will be called to appear before the selection committee, constituted by the Commission. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview. The decision of the Commission will be final. The Commission reserves the right to withdraw/cancel the award without assigning any reason.
